The best bars and pubs in Leeds near IconInc "The Glassworks"

We haven’t rushed the selection of our new IconInc location in Leeds. We’ve taken our time to pick the place that will give you the very best experience of university life in Leeds.

The Glassworks on Cardigan Road, due open in September 2017, is less than a mile from the University of Leeds and the same distance from the heart of student life in the city, Headingley.

Take your pick from some of the best bars and pubs in the area for your formative student years:

Trio

44-46 North Ln, Leeds LS6 3HU



You’ll get plenty of choice across a couple of floors in this modern establishment. The food, with everything from grilled meats to pastas and pizzas, will fill you up before a night on the resplendent cocktails they have downstairs.

The Library

229 Woodhouse Ln, Leeds LS2 3AP



If it’s a proper pub with a great ear for music and local bands you’re after, The Library will be right up your street – and it will pretty much be right up your street if you live at The Glassworks.

You’ll catch many a great band here (check the Leeds Gigs Guide for upcoming gigs) and, when there are no live acts, you can play pool along to the top-notch tunes they’ll be throwing your way.

Hyde Park Pub

Woodhouse St, Leeds LS6 2NW



On Hyde Park Corner is one of the most popular student pubs in the area; it’s frequented on the famed Otley Run – a regular fancy dress pub crawl down Otley Road and into town.

It’s spacious and has outdoor seating along with plenty of choice for drinks, whether you’re on a quiet kind of evening out or a shots kind of night out.

Brudenell Social Club

33 Queen's Rd, Leeds LS6 1NY



Music is the name of the game at the Brude. Get involved with some of the best local acts in the area in this winner of an old working men’s club.

It’s still a bit of an underground venue with a cult following, so it’s the real deal for anyone who wants a true taste of Leeds.

Dry Dock

Woodhouse Ln, Leeds LS2 3AX



You won’t be expecting this one: the Dry Dock is called the Dry Dock because it’s a boat on a dry dock. In other words, it’s a boat-cum-pub on a roundabout.

It’s another favourite on the student scene due to its close proximity to university grounds. If you make it as far as the Dry Dock on the Otley Run, you’ve done well!

Arcadia

34 Arndale Centre, Headingley, Leeds LS6 2UE



Arcadia is one of the best pubs around if you’re a fan of ale – and it’s a world away from the student crowds on the Dry Dock.

It’s part of the Market Town Taverns group that also owns East of Arcadia in Meanwood and Veritas in the city centre – all excellent pubs.

Headingley Taps

Bennett Rd Car Park, Headingley, Leeds LS6 3HN



The Taps is a classic student watering hole. Shots galore, screens for sports and plenty of room to dance about on a wild Saturday night.

Don’t be surprised if you see a few Oompa Loompas, Smurfs and Minions in this place every weekend.
