If you are looking for a theatrical experience Leeds certainly has plenty to choose from. The City Varieties Music Hall, the Carriageworks Theatre and the Northern Ballet Theatre produce live entertainment that will sweep you up into one big cultural ball.
As the longest running music hall the City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds is a small music hall in a historic building. It first opened in 1865 as Thornton's New Music Hall and Fashionable Lounge and now caters for all with top comedy, cabaret and musical acts.
In contrast, the Carriageworks Theatre is a new modern theatre that exhibits plays, musicals, dance and film and is the home for the Leeds Civic Arts Guild. It is most famous for the Leeds International Film Festival.
The Northern Ballet Theatre displays contemporary ballet from around the world. Whether you are an avid ballet fan or keen to try it out the NBT will let you embrace the beauty and emotion that comes with watching these beautiful dancers perform.
