Here at IconInc, we love to eat. Fortunately for us, and our insatiable appetites, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out in Leeds. We can barely keep up with the number of great restaurants and cafes opening up across the city every month, so we thought we’d share a few of our favourites so you too can love to eat with us.

    ZAAP THAI

Thai street food is pretty popular around these parts but the new Zaap Thai on the corner of Merrion Street and Vicar Lane claims it’s here to “start a Thai Street food revolution in Leeds” – and it’s brought it’s A game!

First off, if you’re ordering dishes inspired by those served on the streets of Bangkok, you might as well be eating out of a tuk tuk – yes, tuk tuk booths! It’s bustling and busy (that’s not just the décor!) with a great atmosphere. Perfect for a casual bite to eat with friends.

The extensive menu has everything from dim sum, lighter bites like spring rolls, meat skewers and dumplings, to stir fries, noodles, curries, soups and more – and we all know the best thing about smaller plates, you can get away with ordering as many as you want!

    TRINITY KITCHEN

You know those typical shopping centre food halls crammed with the same mundane fast food joints? Well we don’t. Nope, we were blessed with ‘Trinity Kitchen’ – a unique mix of stunning street food vans and pop ups and tasty restaurants serving up quality grub. The only difficulty is picking what to go for because there’s so much choice.

Alternatively, if you fancy more of a sit down meal, there’s lots of great restaurants to choose from in the main shopping centre, including Cabana, Cielo Blanco and The Botanist.

    A NATION OF SHOPKEEPERS

Leeds has had somewhat of a burger revolution. It’s taken the city by storm and they’re all so good, from Meat Liquor to Almost Famous. We can’t pick a favourite – so we’re flying the flag for an old timer, A Nation of Shopkeepers, with a menu to keep carnivores, and herbivores alike, happy and full… so very full!

    BELGRAVE MUSIC HALL & CANTEEN

Spread over three floors with two bars, two kitchens and a roof terrace, Belgrave serves quality, canteen style food from 11am to late seven days a week. From its in-house pizza pilgrims ‘Dough Boys’ to a rotating line up some of the UK’s best street food venders – washed down with great entertainment with frequent live performances.

    THE BIRD AND BEAST

The home of awesome chicken. Need we say any more?! Locally sourced chicken that is, free range and double marinated. I wouldn’t dress to impress, things might get sticky. The concept at The Bird and Beast is simple; pick your chicken (quarter, half and whole) and your choice of sides – we love the dauphinoise potatoes topped with gruyere cheese! You’re not constrained to chicken either, with options like kebabs, Sunday roast or even a salad.

Anyone else hungry? Us too – see you there (but which one?!)
